Cornhuskers

Sorghum vulgare is a variety of sorghum from Mexico. This hardy annual — also known as broom corn or broom straw — is a tall grass that forms broad, tasseled, fan-shaped heads that range from 16 to 20 inches. Sorghum has a variety of uses, both functional and ornamental. We use premium ‘corn’ to create some of our Monster bundles.

Cornhuskers: 

We take a 1-inch thick bundle of sorghum, add tape to the gripping area to firm the handle then add a comfortable grip over top the taped area.  This give the cornhuskers a firm solid feel in the hand.   We add 2 sound shaping O-rings. The thicker, stiffer strands from the ‘stem’ on the striking end provide more cymbal attack and louder definition than the Soft Corn, which has the softer ‘flowering end’ as the striking end.
